Shane MacGowan
has been writing and performing music for 25 years. From the headlining
days of The Pogues through to today’s solo career, Shane has always been
keen to display his celebration of music in its many forms. “A man loved
by millions” - his legacy as a songwriter is assured. The abiding testament
to his creative genius is ‘A Fairytale of New York’ which became a Christmas
anthem.

A Lifetime
Achievement in the true sense of the words, Shane is generally accepted
as being one of the great 20th century lyricists. This award is a fitting
tribute to the man who has fought his own demons to produce some of the
great folk songs of our age.
